LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER PARTNERS WITH AMAZON
INDIANAPOLIS – A local nonprofit animal shelter has partnered with Amazon in a fundraising effort to continue rescuing strays from the local area.
The shelter is entirely supported by adoption fees, grants, and generous donations from the community. Founder and Executive Director Rosie Ellis has never taken a salary from the shelter, and any money raised is poured back into the shelter. This new partnership with Amazon offers new fundraising opportunities to expand the work of the shelter.
AmazonSmile, Amazon’s fundraising site, offers users the same Amazon experience they expect, but a portion of the proceeds go toward a nonprofit organization of the user’s choosing. By using AmazonSmile, users can continue to use the online shopping platform that they love while giving to the animal shelter they believe in.
Rosie’s Southside Animal Shelter was founded in 1987 when Ellis started rescuing stray kittens in her home. The shelter’s mission is “to rescue at-risk dogs and cats and nurture and restore them to happy, healthy lives in loving homes.”
To continue rescuing strays and giving them forever homes, Ellis needed to find new ways of fundraising. Rosie's partnership with AmazonSmile offers donors a new way to give to the shelter. She’s optimistic about the potential impact. “Partnering with Amazon is going to be a good step in the right direction of modernizing the shelter,” Ellis said.
To sign up for AmazonSmile, users can visit www.smile.amazon.com and sign in using their Amazon credentials. Users can select Rosie’s Southside Animal Shelter as their charity of choice and start shopping.
